Full-Frame Window Replacement

Full-Frame Window Replacement in Syracuse

Full-frame replacement takes the old window all the way out, down to the rough opening, including the frame and sill. That is the method to use when the existing frame is rotted, when flashing has failed, or when you want to change the size of the opening. Primerconference does full-frame work on the older homes around Salt Springs and Eastwood where decades of Syracuse weather have taken a toll.

Why Full-Frame Is Sometimes the Only Right Call

An insert window is faster, but it hides whatever is behind the trim. If the sill is soft or the sheathing is stained, dropping a new unit into that opening just seals the problem inside the wall. Going full-frame lets us see the framing, replace what is rotted, and lay fresh flashing tape and a proper sill pan before the window ever goes in. On a drafty foursquare, that is the difference between a window that lasts twenty years and one that leaks by the second winter.

Our Process

We pull the old unit and trim, inspect and repair the framing, and reflash the opening to shed water. Then we set the new window plumb and square, shim it, insulate with low-expansion foam, and finish the interior and exterior trim clean. Every unit is air-sealed so the NFRC U-factor on the label holds up in a real January.
